Extremely Rare, 1 in 100,000, Black Barn Owl

Black barn owlBarn owls are very common and may even be the favorite owls for many people, but there is a species that is really special.
These black owls suffer from a gene mutation called melanism, which is the opposite of albinism.
Often in the wild, such owls do not survive because they are different, so their mothers reject them.
Black barn owl“They are a different colour and in nature, and especially with barn owls, it tends to be survival of the fittest. Black barn owls tend to be smaller [than normal barn owls] and sometimes they have problems with their vision and hearing,” says Ms Manarin, an owner of a black owl.
