Fried bread and mutton are the staples of the Navajo people in the southwestern United States. Making fry bread is perhaps one of the oldest Navajo traditions.
They introduced mutton to their cooking traditions later on, to supplement and add variety to their diet, after starting to raise sheep and goats.

The Navajo people are very geared toward family life and events that surround their lifestyle.
